Using the Jump bars

The jump bar is located at the top of the contents view. It provides an alternative way to pick a report. When the sidebar is hidden, it becomes the alternate way to pick a report.

The jump bar displays the "path" of the visible contents displayed in the text view or in the outline view.

This "path" is made of 3 components for the text view and 2 for the outline view:

ComponentDescription
SourcesThis component shows the source of the report currently displayed. It can be used to select a report among all the sources.
ReportsThis component shows which report is currently displayed. It can be used to select another report from the same source.
Report sections
(Text view only)
This component shows which section of the reports is currently visible at the top of the text view. It can be used to quickly jump to a specific section or thread of the report.

To learn more about the different sections of a report, see the Examining the Fields in a Crash Report Apple's documentation.

If you use Xcode as your IDE, you already know how a jump bar works. Each component of the "path" is a popup button that allows you to pick a report or jump to a section of the report.

To display a report from any source:

1Click the sources component.
2Choose the source and then the reports in the corresponding sub-menu.

To display a report from the current source:

1Click the reports component.
2Choose the report.

To jump to a specific section of the current text report:

1Click the report sections component.
2Choose the section or thread.
